Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund Report III

Central Community College received nearly $8.1 million from the U.S. Department of Education through the American Recovery Plan on May 12, 2021. CCC acknowledged acceptance and received the funds on May 15, 2021.

The allocation is part of the American Rescue Plan Act, which was passed on March 2021. The measure stipulates that at least half of the total federal dollars granted to the institution be directed as emergency cash grants for students impacted by the coronavirus.

Central Community College made the decision to award funding to all students enrolled in a credit course at CCC. The funding was awarded based on credits registered and financial aid status.

Full-Time Enrollment (12 or more credit hours)

  • 700 students receiving Pell Grants were awarded $2,000 each
  • 951 students not receiving Pell Grants were awarded $1,000 each

Three-Quarter-Time Enrollment (9-11 credit hours) 

  • 243 students receiving Pell Grants were awarded $1,750 each
  • 493 students not receiving Pell Grants were awarded $750 each

Half-Time Enrollment

  • 248 students receiving Pell Grants were awarded $1,500 each
  • 1,027 students not receiving Pell Grants were awarded $500 each

Less Than Half-Time Enrollment (1-5 credit hours)

  • 70 students receiving Pell Grants were awarded $1,350 each
  • 2,452 students not receiving Pell Grants were awarded $350 each

A total of 6,184 students received a total $4,984,200, more than the required minimum.

Students received the following email on Oct. 4 and the funds were applied to students' accounts on Oct. 8:

The federal government passed the American Recovery Plan providing funding to educational institutions to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the Coronavirus.

We are pleased to report that you qualify for some of those funds received by Central Community College through this Act.

Funds will be placed on your account for processing this week and will be disbursed to students on Friday, October 8th. If you set up direct deposit in your WebCentral account prior to October 1st, the funds should be in your applicable account by October 8th, depending on your financial institution. If you have NOT set up direct deposit, the funds will be released in the form of a paper check through regular mail and could take anywhere from 1-3 weeks for delivery.

Please check your WebCentral account to make certain we have in our database the appropriate address to mail this check to. You can go to My Services, Services for Students, and then click on User Account. You will be able to see the address we have on record. If the address is inaccurate, make any necessary changes there and click SUBMIT.

The amounts awarded vary depending upon your enrollment status and whether or not you are a Pell Grant recipient this semester.

If you still owe a balance on your account at Central Community College this semester, you can use these funds to pay that bill. Check your balance on your WebCentral account and use these funds to make a payment if at all possible if you still owe for tuition and fees or room and board. Remember, any balance for Fall needs to be paid in full to register for classes for the Spring 2022 semester.

Central Community College awarded the total $4,239,649 required to go to students during this process. Additionally, the College awarded $744,551 of the institutional funds to students.
