DeBord Scholarship Awarded

The Jim R. DeBord Scholarship has been presented to two students in the heavy equipment operator technician program at Central Community College-Hastings.
Lane Fuller (left) of Deshler and Tren Nunns (right) of Elm Creek each received a $1,000 scholarship to assist them financially in their educational pursuits.
I’m honored to get the scholarship and I’m just really thankful that we have people that look upon us for future generations to come,” said Fuller, who would like to work on a demolition crew.
Ron and Tammy DeBord established the scholarship in 2020 in honor of Ron’s father, Jim, who worked in the heavy equipment field for more than three decades. This year, Jim and Ron attended the scholarship presentation ceremony along with Jim’s grandson, Nolan.
I’m very honored that I received (the DeBord Scholarship), It’s going help me a lot,” Nunns said. “I mainly came to the program because I’m really interested in the dirt side of the industry and possibly starting my own business someday.”
Two scholarships are given each year to students in the heavy equipment operator technician program.
