Deveaux Signs With UNK

May 4, 2023

Trey DeveauxFormer Central Community College men’s basketball forward Trey Deveaux has signed with the University of Nebraska-Kearney, a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II program.

Deveaux capped off a successful sophomore season by being named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II All-America First Team. He started all 33 games and led the Raiders in scoring with 18.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. He scored 20 or more points in 14 games. Deveaux was also named to the NJCAA All-Region 9 Team and the Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference All-Conference Team.

“I’m really excited because they brought in a bunch of other good players too,” said Deveaux. “So, I think we’re going to have a pretty good year, or at least we have the potential to. We just have to put the work in.”

CCC head coach John Ritsdorf said he is excited for Deveaux and that he definitely earned the opportunity to sign with UNK.

“Most guys come to junior college with the idea of leveling up their recruitment,” Ritzdorf said. “Trey believed he was an NCAA Division II player coming out of high school. I’m happy that he had a great experience here and was able to improve his game.”

Ritzdorf is quite familiar with the Lopers’ program as he was an assistant at UNK prior to his appointment to lead the CCC men’s program in 2019.

“The facilities are fantastic,” said Ritzdorf. “It’s one of the better DII facilities, especially in the Midwest. It’s a great situation for him as a person and a player, and he sees an opportunity to go in and play a big role like he did for us, which is really attractive to him.”

A Lincoln native and a graduate of Norris High School, Deveaux will graduate from CCC-Columbus on Friday with an associate of arts degree.
