NJCAA Enlists Young’s Expertise

Mary YoungCentral Community College athletics director Mary Young will serve on three National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) committees for 2020-21.

Young has been named as vice chair of the NJCAA Championship Events Committee, which oversees the selection process of host sites for the 47 NJCAA national championships and sanctioned football bowl games. Additionally, she will continue to chair the beach volleyball and Division II volleyball committees. Young chaired beach volleyball for the past two years and the D2 volleyball committee during 2019-20.

Young currently serves as an NJCAA Board of Regents member and as the Region IX women’s director. She has served in several capacities with the NJCAA and Region IX in policy, procedures, sanctions and legislation, and is a past president of the NJCAA Coaches Association.

“I feel fortunate to serve the NJCAA and our student-athletes in this capacity and represent Region IX and CCC,” said Young. “I have had the ability to work with some of the best leaders in the sports throughout the country and my involvement has awarded me some valuable relationships and the ability to grow professionally.”

Young recently completed her first year as CCC athletics director after leading the volleyball squad for 24 years.
