CCC Theatre Presents Charlotte’s Web

October 18, 2022

Central Community College Theatre proudly presents Charlotte's Web, a play based on the book by E. B. White and adapted by Joseph Robinette.

“I’m so excited for this play,” said theatre director Stephanie Tschetter. “This play has a lot of name recognition. Whenever people hear that we are doing it, they’re excited because they know from their childhood. I know the students are also very excited and have been working very hard.”

The play tells the story about the friendship between a pig named Wilbur and a spider named Charlotte that blossoms after the other barnyard animals snub Wilbur. When Wilbur discovers that he is being raised for slaughter, Charlotte devises a plan to save his life by weaving words and short phrases praising the pig into her web.

Tschetter is quick to point out that the CCC theatre presentation of Charlotte’s Web is a play and not the musical that many people remember as well.

“It’s still the story that people know and love,” said Tschetter. “There’s still the humble pig, the clever spider and the rat that is a trickster.”

Charlotte's Web will be performed at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20; Friday, Oct. 21; and Saturday, Oct. 22. Showtime on Sunday, Oct. 23, is set for 2 p.m. Tickets are $5 apiece while CCC students, faculty and staff are admitted free of charge.
