Big Help for Project H.E.L.P.

Central Community College is pleased to announce a $2.3 million continuation of the Health Profession Opportunity Grant (HPOG), which funds Project H.E.L.P. (Health Education Laddering Program).
CCC will share the funds with its Project H.E.L.P. partners at Mid-Plains Community College, Northeast Community College and Southeast Community College. The award is part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, or CARES Act, and runs through September of 2021.
Project H.E.L.P. started at CCC in 2010 and assists low-income individuals in overcoming barriers to success during their education and lead them to high-demand, well-paying jobs in the health care industry. Participants receive supportive services such as intensive success coaching, scholarships, laptop checkout, scrubs, transportation assistance, resume/interview preparation and job placement assistance. Project H.E.L.P. also works with community agencies and area employers to provide participants with a wrap-around approach to overcoming barriers while learning about the healthcare field.
Administered by the Administration for Children and Family, U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, HPOG was created to provide education and training to Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program recipients and other low-income individuals for occupations in the health care field that pay well and are expected to either experience labor shortages or be in high demand.
HPOG participants are given the opportunity to obtain higher education, training and support services needed to secure positions that have opportunity for advancement and sustainability, ultimately leading these individuals on a pathway to financial self-sufficiency.
HPOG is a study funded by the federal government which is being conducted to determine how these training opportunities help people improve their skills and find better jobs.During the study, all new eligible applicants will be selected by lottery to participate in these training opportunities. Not all eligible applicants will be selected to participate in these opportunities.
