Fall Student Reminders

October 30, 2020

To: All CCC Fall Semester Students
From: Dr. Beth Przymus, Dean of Student Success

Dear Fall 2020 Student,

I hope you have been staying well and that your coursework has been interesting, as well as an opportunity for expanded learning. As the fall term and fall season quickly come to a close, I want to share some important information and reminders about upcoming dates.

Fall Semester Dates: The last day of classes for the fall semester is Friday, Dec. 11. At this time, all CCC classes will continue with the regular schedule until the end of the term. We will notify students immediately if there will be any changes to the schedule, due to circumstances related to the pandemic.

Priority Registration: The first day to register for the spring semester begins on Thursday, Nov. 12. If you haven't already made an appointment with your advisor to register for classes, please put this on your to-do list. We want to ensure that you get registered for the course and time selections that you prefer. If you are unsure who your academic advisor is, please visit Student Planning. Your advisor will be listed under the "Advisor & Notes Tab." In addition, you may contact Phone Central at 308-398-7412 for any questions you may have about your academic advisor or spring registration.

Mid-Year Graduation: For students who have completed diploma and/or degree requirements and are eligible to graduate in December, we will be recognizing you at our 2020 mid-year graduation receptions. These Graduation Reception events will be held at our three campus locations at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 11. Please be watching for more details about CCC's mid-year graduation receptions and how you and your family can participate and celebrate your accomplishments.

Note: Because of concerns related to the increase in COVID case numbers in Nebraska, we will not hold the collegewide December commencement in Grand Island as previously planned. Three smaller and separate graduation receptions will be held instead.

Spring Semester Schedule: Classes for the spring 2021 semester will begin on Monday, Jan. 11. At this time, the schedule for the spring semester will proceed as normal, with all holiday and student breaks included. Should circumstances arise that would necessitate a change in the spring semester schedule, we will notify you as soon as possible. College leadership and our COVID-19 response team is regularly monitoring updates and case numbers from local health departments. We are working to ensure that we can adapt effectively should we need to make alternative plans for the spring semester. Thank you for watching your email and staying in touch with us over the next several weeks for any updates.

Academic Support: As we near the end of the semester with finals, projects, and papers that might be due, please remember that our academic success centers are here to help meet your needs. The academic success centers at our campuses offer free tutoring (virtual and in-person), assistance with writing projects, free computer access, and a quiet place for you to study or receive academic help. Our academic success directors can be reached in person, or by phone or email. Here is their contact information:

  • Columbus - Krynn Larsen: 402-562-1422, email.
  • Grand Island - Ron Christensen: 308-398-7475, email.
  • Hastings - Lydia Lough: 402-461-2573, email.

Finally, I want to thank you for your continued cooperation and commitment to keeping all of our students, employees, and campuses safe by social distancing with others and wearing your mask when in any CCC buildings, labs and classroom spaces. You have helped to keep our doors open by adhering to these practices.

Please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you need assistance or have questions. We are here for you. Best wishes on your continued academic success and the pursuit of your goals.

Elizabeth Przymus, Ph.D.
